Titon has supplied more than 300 Sobinco Chrono fast fit hinge and locking systems, from its aluminium range, with Autolatch window restrictors, plus more than 280 highly energy efficient whole house ventilation units (with heat recovery) from its HRV Q Plus range, to the landmark Halo Tower at 150 High Street, Stratford - which at 43 stories high will be the tallest building in the area, and the largest residential tower in Europe; with impressive views of the Olympic Park, which is adjacent to it. Look out for it during TV coverage of the Games!
The Titon Sobinco Chrono fast fit hinge and Autolatch window restrictors for open-in windows, were installed with Kawneer’s AA®201 curtain walling and fitted by specialist contractor Architectural Glazed Facades. Louise Parker, Project Manager, Architectural Glazed Facades, said: "This was a challenging and complex project, so it was important to choose products with a proven track record that could be installed to meet our requirements. In terms of durable, reliable and efficient features, the Titon products ticked all the right boxes and are contributing to the successful completion of this project."
Titon’s HRV Q plus models are being fitted throughout the Genesis Housing Association development to improve air circulation and deliver efficiencies of up to 91%. To make specification simple, all Titon whole house ventilation units (with heat recovery) have been independently tested by the BRE and are EST Best Practice compliant. The range is also compatible with System 4, to help comply with Part F of the Building Regulations 2010.
It’s the combination of very low power consumption and highly efficient heat exchangers in these units which have been designed to enhance SAP performance via Appendix Q. Additionally, all models are fitted with incredibly quiet and very energy efficient fans.
For ease of installation, all Titon HRV Q Plus units feature quick fix mounting bracket and for the end-user, there’s adjustable fan speeds including a fully controlled boost overrun timer, on a non-latching (momentary) switch to prevent the units being accidently left in boost mode. Each model has optional extras including an intelligent 100% summer bypass (except the HRV 1 model) and a switch activated option which turns off or reduces supply when windows or trickle vents are opened.
Titon’s Sobinco Chrono fast fit hinge and locking systems are incredibly versatile, and suitable for all window types, including tilt & turn and side or bottom-hung open-in windows. For speedy installation, no cutting or drilling of link rods are required which allows them to be assembled in super-quick time, using the revolutionary rod system. Designed for versatility, the maximum sash weight is 170kg and there is a wide choice of handle designs and self-locating clamp-on hinges.
Autolatch window restrictors from Titon are an automatically engaging spring-loaded window restrictor manufactured in stainless steel, and have been designed for use on side and top hung windows. There are a variety of pin heights to suit all cavity sizes, as well as an austenitic steel version for improved corrosion resistance.
Titon has also supplied more than 400 CME1 Q Plus units to the two residential towers situated next to the Halo Tower (to the left of the image), which are part of the same scheme. The CME1 Q Plus incorporates a unique tilted impeller, single level ports and has a very large capacity of over 400m³/hr at reasonable static pressure, making it perfect for delivering System 3 of ADF ventilation for dwellings of up to approximately 300m² floor area. The unit’s unique design ensures it is not only very energy efficient but also very quiet too.
The Halo Tower is 43 storeys high and one of six new residential buildings, being built by Ardmore Construction for Genesis Housing Association.
