It's all hush hush. The sound attenuating vent from Titon - June 2011

Titon has launched a new surface-mounted noise reducing ventilator that is suitable for PVCu, timber and aluminium windows – the SF Sound Attenuator Vent. Compatible with standard 13mm slots, the vent provides excellent sound attenuation for its size and has a very competitive price, making it perfect for both new builds and retrofitting in domestic or commercial installations. Unlike some competitor ‘acoustic’ ventilators, the SF Sound Attenuator performs to the levels claimed and this is backed up by independent testing.

Thanks to its clever design, the SF Sound Attenuator Vent reduces incoming noise while maintaining excellent levels of ventilation. Independently tested at a UKAS test house in accordance with BSEN20140-10:1992, ISO140-10:1991, the SF Sound Attenuator provides up to 40 Dn,e,w in the open position and 50 Dn,e,w in the closed position. Combined with a compression closing action and a high performance gasket, the vent still performs to the highest standards even in adverse weather conditions.

To make specification simple, the SF Sound Attenuator Vent and Canopy are available in a range of size combinations to suit a variety of reveals, aesthetic preferences and required levels of attenuation. For ease of installation, all vents fit over Titon’s SF, Trimvent Select or Trimvent Select Xtra slots.

Paul Duke, Technical Manager, Titon said: “With more and more developments being built on brownfield and urban sites, the design of ventilation systems is not just about ensuring adequate fresh air - the need to reduce potentially intrusive noise from roads or railways is now a priority. Here at Titon we are really pleased to offer an easy to install vent that still performs to the standards required, and at a price that makes commercial sense too.”
