Titon has Grand Designs on eco-house 06/2008
Hinges and background ventilators from Titon, one of Europe’s leading ventilation companies, were installed in Kevin McCloud’s eco-house during the recent Channel 4 series, Grand Designs Live.
The windows in The House that Kevin Built were manufactured and installed by Westgate Joinery and featured Titon’s signature Select Trimvent TV90 trickle vent, Sobinco 490 pivot hinges, Maco RAIL espagnolettes and Securistyle friction hinges.
Watched by over a million people, Grand Designs Live was a week long series of TV programmes looking at cutting edge design in housebuilding which ran alongside the Grand Designs Live exhibition in London. The House the Kevin Built was a challenge to Kevin McCloud to design and build a sustainable house, using traditional materials and techniques along side cutting-edge 21st Century technology which underpinned his green principles. The additional challenge was to build it in six days – rather than the usual length of time.
Tyson Anderson, Sales and Marketing Director at Titon commented: “We’ve always been proud of our products and the design and engineering behind them. What’s great is they are being chosen by our customers to be used in such a prestigious project. It just goes to prove that you can trust Titon to deliver ventilation and innovation.”
