Titon Helps Scottish Hotel Keep Out Unwanted Noise - August 2013
Guests at the 179-bedroomed Tune Hotel in Haymarket are benefiting from SF Sound Attenuator (SFSA) and Trimvent (TV) SM ventilators from Titon. The refurbished 1960s building, which opened in December 2012, is located opposite Haymarket Rail Station in the city of Edinburgh. The SFSA vents have been installed to prevent guests being disturbed by any unwanted noise from the hotel’s surroundings.
Brian Ross, Commercial Manager for Marshall Brown (Windows) Limited, explained: “We always use Titon’s trickle vents on our windows, because they offer high levels of performance. They have good rubber seals and are extremely reliable. For the Tune Hotel project, SFSA vents were used in addition to the TV SM vents on the advice of the acoustic technicians, to reduce noise levels in the rooms overlooking the road. SFSA vents offer the same high standards we’ve come to expect from Titon, but with improved acoustic performance. The hotel has been open for over six months now, during which time the vents have performed exceptionally well.”
The SFSA is a slot ventilator which provides high levels of sound attenuation compared to similar ‘acoustic’ products, in a compact size. The SFSA can be purchased in a number of combinations based on different sizes of inner (ventilator) and outer (canopy). Combinations can be chosen depending on sound attenuation requirement and aesthetic acceptance. The product is a cost effective method of reducing incoming noise where conventional slot ventilators are unable to assist in acoustic issues.
The TV SM is a surface mounted aluminium slot ventilator that fits over a 10 or 12mm slot in a window and provides an Equivalent Area (EA) of up to 5,000mm² when fitted with an SM canopy. The TV SM is available in made to measure sizes or in bar length in a variety of colours.
